New Buick Ad Campaign Features Reese Witherspoon in Futuristic Concept

In one of its latest partnerships, the Buick brand has joined with media company Hello Sunshine to look to the future. Hello Sunshine was founded by Oscar-winning actress Reese Witherspoon with the mission of putting women at the center of stories.

The first spot of the new Buick ad campaign is called “Dream with Us.” In this 90-second video, we get a glimpse of what Buick imagines the future of transportation will look like. It features the Buick Wildcat EV concept to showcase these futuristic features.

Narrated by Witherspoon, the spot features women enjoying advanced features like autonomous driving, the exterior color changing to match an outfit, augmented reality projections on the windshield, and the windows automatically closing as bad weather rolls in.

“We are very excited to continue our work with Hello Sunshine, a company that shares our vision of empowering and celebrating women,” said Molly Peck, vice president, Buick and GMC Marketing. “With the largest percentage share of female buyers in the auto industry, we know that more and more women are making vehicle-buying decisions and we’re thinking creatively about how to offer experiences tailored to them.”

In addition to the brand campaign, the partnership with Witherspoon includes access to the Reese’s Book Club in-vehicle app in certain Buick vehicles. With this app, drivers can access audiobooks and podcasts specifically selected for Reese’s Book Club.

GM Continues Electric Revolution with New Charging Port Tech

Charging Port Tech | Mitchell Buick GMC | San Angelo, TX

General Motors has some standout electric models on the way, like the revolutionary electric Hummer SUV and truck. But, recharging the huge batteries on such vehicles will take a long, long time using normal charging ports. That’s why GM has been developing new charging technology.

The automotive company recently filed a patent for a dual charging port. Why is that? Many GM EVs will use a dual-layer Ultium battery, which consists of two separate battery packs wired together. A dual charging system will be able to recharge both battery packs simultaneously rather than one at a time.

Based on MotorTrend’s speculations, this could revolutionize EV recharging. Bigger GMC vehicles for commercial uses and business fleets could be around the corner. Eventually, you could be driving a heavy-duty, all-electric GMC truck for your utility business here in San Angelo.

Through this innovation, GM continues to show how committed it is to making electric transportation more viable for average drivers, including here in San Angelo, Texas. The development of new electric models in the coming years aren’t just a fad; Buick and GMC are doing what they can to make EV ownership easier — wherever you live and whatever you drive.

Transporting a Kayak with Your GM Vehicle

Transporting Kayak | Mitchell Buick GMC | San Angelo, TX

Living in San Angelo, Texas has numerous benefits. One of those is being so close to multiple water sources, like Twin Buttes Reservoir and O. C. Fisher Lake. Both spots are prime locations for kayaking. If you own your own kayak or two and want to take them on your next water adventure, here are a few tips on transporting a kayak with your GM vehicle.

Roof rack

The safest way to transport a kayak on top of a vehicle is with a roof rack. If you don’t have one, you can get one installed at Jupiter Chevrolet. Also, if your GM SUV only has side rails, you can get crossbars installed.

Kayak attachments

To keep your kayak secure on your roof rack, you should purchase a kayak attachment. This will keep your kayak secure while you’re driving. There are multiple types of kayak attachments including saddles, stackers, and J-cradles.

Loading the kayak

With the right kind of roof rack and kayak attachment setup, you can start loading your kayak. The safest and easiest way to put a kayak on your roof is going to be with someone’s help. With two people, each person can hold an end of the kayak while you put it into place. Be sure to double check all straps and buckles before driving to make sure everything is secured properly.

Contact us at Mitchell Buick GMC if you have any questions about adding roof racks to your current GM vehicle.

How To Pack Light for a Summer Road Trip With Your GM SUV

Road Trip Packing | Mitchell Buick GMC | San Angelo, TX

Whether you’re in it for a day trip to Fort Concho or the long haul across Texas, Mitchell Buick-GMC in San Angelo presents tips on packing lightly. You’ll find that capitalizing on the space in your Acadia or Encore means less stress and more room for fun. Here are some tips to pack light on your next summer road trip.

Plan ahead

Before packing those ten extra pairs of socks, make a list of what you’ll need for each day. Plan to bring only seven days’ worth of clothes, and research how you can do your laundry on the road. A good rule of thumb is to make sure that all of your shirts match your pants, making it easier to mix and match.

Pack efficiently

Opt for smaller, light luggage options like a duffel bag or backpack. Challenging yourself to make it all fit will save space for future souvenirs.

You’ll save space in your luggage by rolling, not folding, your clothes. If you’re worried about crinkling your shirts, opt for quick-dry fabrics that don’t wrinkle. Choose one pair of comfortable, multipurpose footwear to save shoe space.

Ditch the extras

Most hotels have essentials stocked, so only bring items that you won’t be able to purchase on the road. If you’re not staying in a hotel, consider bringing sample sizes of the basics.

You’ll thank yourself for replacing clunky books and your laptop with an efficient tablet or e-reader.

Following these road trip tips from Mitchell Buick-GMC in San Angelo, Texas, will save you from over-packing and under-enjoying your summer.

What is Ultium from General Motors?

What is Ultium? | Mitchell Buick GMC | San Angelo, TX

General Motors is paving the way for an electrified future for its vehicles and the drivers who love them. They have even set a pressure-cooker deadline. By 2025, the automaker plans shoppers will have 30 new electric vehicles to choose from in its brands’ lineups. How will the automaker achieve such a bold goal of revolutionizing how their vehicles are powered? It starts with its innovative Ultium Platform

Ultium Platform basics

The way GM plans to outfit its range of vehicle types from cars, SUVs, trucks, and even commercial vehicles, is with a versatile power unit that mimics a “one-size fits all” capability. That’s the Ultium Platform — a modular battery and drive unit that has the flexibility to electrify the GM range of vehicles thanks to its pouch cell design.

Ultium power

Not only is Ultium flexible and versatile, it also provides a powerful punch to every drive and an impressive range that keeps you on the road for miles and miles.

“The next generation of EVs by General Motors will be as responsive as they are powerful. Ultium enables a near 50/50 weight distribution of the vehicle and a lower center of gravity, which together result in a vehicle that’s sporty, responsive and allows for spirited driving,” reports GM.

Spring Maintenance Tips

Spring Maintenance | Mitchell Buick GMC | San Angelo, TX

With warmer weather just around the corner, it is the perfect time to make sure your vehicle is ready. Get your essential spring maintenance done by scheduling a service appointment at Mitchell Buick GMC in San Angelo, Texas.

Oil change

Engine oil is the lifeblood of your vehicle. It works to keep your engine clean and cool. Over time, dirt and other debris collect in the oil and cause it to thicken. If not changed regularly, that thick engine sludge can damage the engine leading to even more expensive service costs.

Tire maintenance

Your tires keep your vehicle in contact with the road. Routine maintenance ensures they last as long as they should and keep you safe. Tire maintenance typically includes regular tire rotations, which promote even wear, and air pressure checks. Your tires should be inflated at a specific air pressure. When that pressure is too low or too high, this can cause premature damage to your tires.

Battery check

After the colder winter temperatures, your battery may have experienced some stress. Have it tested to make sure it has enough life left to make it through the intense Texas heat.

HVAC inspection

No one wants to be left without air conditioning when Texas summer rolls around. An HVAC inspection makes sure everything is working properly to keep you cool.

Contact us at Mitchell Buick GMC in San Angelo if you need to schedule a seasonal service appointment before your upcoming summer travels.

GMC HUMMER EV Crushes Off-Road Testing in Moab

GMC HUMMER EV Crushes Off-Road Testing in Moab | Mitchell Buick GMC | San Angelo, TX

Moab, Utah, is known for its breathtaking vistas and rocky terrain. Because of its fame as an off-roading destination, Moab is the ideal place to test off-road-ready vehicles. And that’s exactly what GMC did earlier this year with the upcoming HUMMER EV.

It’s no surprise that the HUMMER EV crushed off-road testing in Moab. Thanks to features like Extract Mode, Terrain Mode, CrabWalk, and One-Pedal Driving, the Utah desert was no match for the all-electric supertruck. Terrain Mode offers two different braking calibrations that you can either use traditionally with two pedals and a mild braking option or with One-Pedal Driving and regenerative braking. One-Pedal Driving and Terrain Mode together allow you to easily climb steep hills and crawl over rocks in your HUMMER EV without batting an eyelid, making this supertruck a super beast off-road.

CrabWalk allows the HUMMER EV to drive diagonally, which lets the truck traverse even the most challenging terrain with ease. Extract Mode lifts the truck approximately 6 inches higher off the ground, so you can drive over boulders or through deep water with confidence.

The one-of-a-kind GMC HUMMER EV is slated to hit dealership showrooms this fall. Want to learn more about the HUMMER EV and its SUV sibling? Mitchell Buick GMC in San Angelo, Texas, can help you find your perfect match in the HUMMER EV lineup.

VIN 001 GMC HUMMER EV Edition 1 Raises $2.5 Million for Veterans

First GMC HUMMER EV Raises $2.5 Million For Charity | Mitchell Buick GMC | San Angelo, TX

Anticipation is off the charts for the electrifying new 2022 GMC HUMMER EV supertruck. In fact, the first one to roll off the production line, the VIN 001 HUMMER EV Edition 1, brought in $2.5 million for American heroes at a recent charity auction in Arizona.

The money from the sale of the VIN 001 HUMMER EV Edition 1 will go toward the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. This organization, which was started in honor of Sept. 11 first responder Stephen Siller, provides mortgage-free homes for badly injured veterans and Gold Star families.

The auctioneer, Barrett-Jackson, waived the usual fees for an auction sale. That means Tunnel to Towers will receive the entire $2.5 million in proceeds.

“One hundred percent of the hammer price from this auction will resonate across America,” said Frank Siller, the foundation’s CEO. “This donation from the HUMMER EV Edition 1 will help build homes for our catastrophically injured veterans to give them their independence and a better quality of life.”

The HUMMER EV is the first-ever all-electric vehicle from GMC, and it’s going to be incredible. The Edition 1 trim will arrive first with 1,000 horsepower, 11,500 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 mph time of as little as 3 seconds. It’ll also boast massive off-road capabilities thanks to tech like Four-Wheel Steer with CrabWalk, an adjustable-height suspension, and underbody trail cameras.

The HUMMER EV Edition 1 will go into production toward the end of the year, and we can’t wait. Contact us here at Mitchell Buick-GMC in San Angelo to learn how you can get in line to reserve the HUMMER EV for yourself.
