Moab, Utah, is known for its breathtaking vistas and rocky terrain. Because of its fame as an off-roading destination, Moab is the ideal place to test off-road-ready vehicles. And that’s exactly what GMC did earlier this year with the upcoming HUMMER EV.
It’s no surprise that the HUMMER EV crushed off-road testing in Moab. Thanks to features like Extract Mode, Terrain Mode, CrabWalk, and One-Pedal Driving, the Utah desert was no match for the all-electric supertruck. Terrain Mode offers two different braking calibrations that you can either use traditionally with two pedals and a mild braking option or with One-Pedal Driving and regenerative braking. One-Pedal Driving and Terrain Mode together allow you to easily climb steep hills and crawl over rocks in your HUMMER EV without batting an eyelid, making this supertruck a super beast off-road.
CrabWalk allows the HUMMER EV to drive diagonally, which lets the truck traverse even the most challenging terrain with ease. Extract Mode lifts the truck approximately 6 inches higher off the ground, so you can drive over boulders or through deep water with confidence.
The one-of-a-kind GMC HUMMER EV is slated to hit dealership showrooms this fall. Want to learn more about the HUMMER EV and its SUV sibling? Mitchell Buick GMC in San Angelo, Texas, can help you find your perfect match in the HUMMER EV lineup.
Anticipation is off the charts for the electrifying new 2022 GMC HUMMER EV supertruck. In fact, the first one to roll off the production line, the VIN 001 HUMMER EV Edition 1, brought in $2.5 million for American heroes at a recent charity auction in Arizona.
The money from the sale of the VIN 001 HUMMER EV Edition 1 will go toward the Tunnel to Towers Foundation. This organization, which was started in honor of Sept. 11 first responder Stephen Siller, provides mortgage-free homes for badly injured veterans and Gold Star families.
The auctioneer, Barrett-Jackson, waived the usual fees for an auction sale. That means Tunnel to Towers will receive the entire $2.5 million in proceeds.
“One hundred percent of the hammer price from this auction will resonate across America,” said Frank Siller, the foundation’s CEO. “This donation from the HUMMER EV Edition 1 will help build homes for our catastrophically injured veterans to give them their independence and a better quality of life.”
The HUMMER EV is the first-ever all-electric vehicle from GMC, and it’s going to be incredible. The Edition 1 trim will arrive first with 1,000 horsepower, 11,500 lb-ft of torque, and a 0-60 mph time of as little as 3 seconds. It’ll also boast massive off-road capabilities thanks to tech like Four-Wheel Steer with CrabWalk, an adjustable-height suspension, and underbody trail cameras.
The HUMMER EV Edition 1 will go into production toward the end of the year, and we can’t wait. Contact us here at Mitchell Buick-GMC in San Angelo to learn how you can get in line to reserve the HUMMER EV for yourself.
